Today I found this program for Leopard that will cleanly remove an application. (no you can’t just delete the application, there are other files… ) It’s called appcleaner.
Last night I as overwhelmed with Photoshop Elements, it’s got a TON of features. But I’m not sure I need all those. So I stumbled on this cool software called Picturesque. They offer, like most mac software, a trial. (They stamp watermarks on till you buy it.) See what I made in about 3 seconds!
This file is HUGE! Don’t let the arrow give the size away:
Update: after working with it for about 15 minutes (and 2 lockups from it) I’m still as lost as before I downloaded it. But that’s pretty normal for me when I comes to “artsy” stuff. I really have to be in the mood to hammer out graphics… (nope, not in the mood) ;-)
So I have been working on getting this express card to work on my new mac. I have been sent through the hoops with Alltel and Kyocera. After reading a lot of websites, I decided to test the QuickLink Mobile for Mac, I had to pay for it, but if it works, great, $20 well spent. No go. At least not yet.
Here is what I get:
Update:
So I finally got the card to work! I went down the Alltel store, they would not help me out at all, as a matter of fact, I had the worst customer service experience by going to corporate Alltel. Down the road a little was a Authorized Agent, Davis Cellular, those guys where the best. They went through the hoops to help me to get this work. Finally I ended up, as a last minute resort to try installing the Alltel USB card software, low and behold, my card picked up right off the bat and I was online in seconds. I think I will send them a box of Krispy Creme donuts. I’ll post images of this working later.
More updates: (here are the images as promised)
That’s me connected!
And here is the mac part of it all:
Oh.. did I mention that the rest of this post is done with the EVDO card. (KPC680)
I’m getting around 1.7mb/s down and about 200 kb/s up. (Not bad!)
Update: I have to also give a big thanks to support staff at Smith Micro, the maker of QuickLink Mobile for Mac for their great help.
I have had some recent comments asking where I got the Alltel USB software: I went in first to an Alltel store local to this area, this was a corporate store and they had no interest at all in helping me out. Down the street was a Alltel authorized reseller and they bent over backwards in helping me out, they let me install the software for the USB device after exhausting many options, they even setup a laptop to allow me to verify the card worked, something Alltel corporate store said they could not do (stay away from the corporate store). It was for the device: UTStarcom UM150.
Hope that helps.

Another update (may 2, 2008) :
“You might include this info to update the post: To get the software go to: http://software.alltel.com - and enter the info in the boxes – OS – Product: select “Wireless Internet Cards” – and UM150 in the device box, hit ’submit’ – then download and install – works great – using it now.”
